15th November 2017, the European Pizza & Pasta Show, the most important European professional event for the Pasta and Pizza sector, was opened at Olympia London. During the first day the 2nd European Pizza Classic Championship under sponsorship from Pizza Senza Frontiere (Pizza Without Frontiers), took place involving pizza chefs from several european countries. Three of them claimed the well deserved accolades on the podium.
The jury composed of Thierry Graffagnino, President of the World Pizza Institute, Luciano Passeri, World Champion Pizza, Massimo Costanzo chef and instructor and Luisa Marescaof the ICE Agency - the agri-food business in London, had the difficult task of deciding the winner of this exciting competition.

The big winner of the day was Saverio Massari, young pizzaiolo in Lavello, province of Potenza who presented "My first time", a pizza with cream of topinambur, spinach ripassati in pan, mozzarella fiordilatte, pork capocolla cooked at low temperature and reduction of pomegranate.

The other two winners at the 2nd European Championships of Pizza Classica were:
Second place - Ernesto Pacifico of the Pizzeria Pacifico with its Queen Margherita: tomato San Marzano, mozzarella fiordilatte, basil and extra virgin olive oil.
Third place - Eric Dusartwith with his "Black Pearl", a black curry dough, pepper and waxy cream.
